Autoclaves for aerated concrete

Olmar autoclave aerated concrete (AAC) autoclaves are specially designed for manufacturing aerated concrete blocks, a new technology that is revolutionising the construction industry worldwide.

The use of aerated concrete blocks (also called “cellular concrete”) has many advantages over conventional construction methods, as it is much lighter and more adaptable than traditional concrete, while still retaining all of its construction properties. This means that aerated concrete can reduce construction time and associated costs, while also increasing the design possibilities of any type of building.

The production of these blocks starts with the preparation of a base of silica sand and/or pulverised fuel ash (PFA), lime, cement, gypsum/anhydrite, water and aluminium. Different types of concrete with different mechanical properties can be obtained depending on the proportion used of each of these components. Once the mixture is ready, the blocks are subjected to a steam-drying process in autoclaves to harden them.
