Autoclaves & Additive Manufacturing
Founded in 1945 and now a world leader in manufacturing autoclaves for curing composite materials, OLMAR has launched its new Additive Technology division.
After more than two and a half years of investing in R&D and incorporating the most advanced technologies into its state-of-the-art plant, OLMAR | Autoclaves & Additive Manufacturing was created with the goal and capacity to take on the following challenges:
- Additive Technology
Capabilities in R&D projects
- Reconstruction of high-cost metal components for military programmes covering any type of vehicle or system.
- Coatings on composite parts to improve their resistance to impact and temperature.
- Very hard, abrasion-resistant coatings.
- Ballistic applications and applications to reduce maintenance errors on battleships
- Reconstruction of parts or welding with no heat-affected zones or variations in material.
- Reconstruction of parts or welding with no heat-affected zones or variations in material.
- Coatings on elements with electrically conductive materials for electromagnetic insulation.
- Coatings on composite parts to improve their resistance to impact and temperature.
- Very hard, abrasion-resistant coatings.
- Applications for communications shelters.
- Applications for components of combat vehicles.
- Manufacture of prototypes with the provision of functional materials in small batches.
- Light armaments.
- Vehicles.
- Communication systems.
- Manufacture of advanced components.
- Barrels with inner liners made of advanced maintenance-free materials (high resistance to temperature and corrosion).
- Barrels with more rigid, lightweight outer casings (titanium or carbon fibre).
- Manufacture or reconstruction of components for reducing weight and saving costs.
Capabilities in technology services
- Design of advanced electromechanical components and systems for the sector.
- Motorised vehicle gun turrets.
- Light or heavy weapons and their components.
- Communication systems.
- Vehicle components.
- High-precision machining of electromechanical assemblies and components for the sector.
- Advanced heat treatments for metal materials (hot isostatic pressing - HIP) and composites (curing of thermoset and thermoplastic composites in an autoclave).
- Advanced surface finishes, electrochemical polishing, vibration polishing, shot peening to strengthen and relieve stress.
