OLMAR FIRM UP  ITS PRESENCE ON SPACE SECTOR WITH A NEW AUTOCLAVE FOR SATELLITES PARTS CURING

The Spanish company Ibérica del Espacio Tecnología Aeroespacial (IberEspacio) has reached an agreement with Olmar for the PO of a new autoclave for curing of composite materials, which will become part of a new plant in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid) destined to the design and development of high-tech satellites.

Through a staff composed mainly by high-qualified technicians and an important investment in R&D (up to 14% over its production costs), IberEspacio exports about 95% of its products to countries in the European Union, United States and Japan. Its clients include important companies as Space System Loral (SSL), Airbus Defence & Space, OHB and space agencies as the European (ESA), Japanese (JAXA), French (CNES) or German (DLR).

The company has recently been awarded with the Best Innovation Project Satellite Telecommunications Award, conceded by the Spanish operator of satellite communications Hispasat as a result of its research in the field of propulsion and cooling systems for satellites.

Among its new projects it highlights the implementation of a thermal control system for the Star One D1 (a satellite which will be launched in early 2016 to participate in the transmissions of RIO 2016) and the collaboration in the ESA mission ‘Exomars’, whose aim is to explore Mars through the installation of a robotic laboratory on the red planet.
